We kicked off the new year with Journey’s popular Tune-Up Tuesdays series. January is typically a reset month for folks, and we wanted to aid in that process (we all help each other, after all). So, every Tuesday at 2 p.m. in January, we reached registered participants live via Zoom with our expert(s) of the week, offering pro tips for realignment after holiday havoc. Our engaging presenters gave sound advice on improving crucial aspects of financial wellness, from online account security to financial planning to estate planning and planned giving. One of our favorite nutrition experts even shared top nutrition tweaks for smarter fueling. We aimed to leave participants road-ready for the year ahead, and we’d have to say the mission was a success. Not to worry if you missed out — individual recaps and video links are below.

Tune Up Your Practices and Passwords: Safer Online Security

Featuring Jenna Harris, Financial Crimes Specialist at UBT, and Brittany Kumm, Lincoln Regional Customer Service Manager at UBT

The more comfortable we become with technology, the more aware we need to be of its potential dangers and the possibility of fraud. Jenna, our first presenter, covered everything from safe and strong passwords to computer viruses and staying safe on social media (hint: stop doing those quizzes about your first car and your mother’s middle name). Brittany then stepped in with more to say on social media (she thinks the quizzes are a bad idea, too), how and why UBT verifies its customers, credit and debit card fraud, and more.

Tune Up Your Nutrition: Small Tweaks for a Big Difference

Featuring Jennifer Dunavan, MS, RD, LMNT — Hy-Vee Registered Dietician

It can be difficult enough to maintain healthy eating habits year-round, and many of us derail during the holidays. Rather than making broad, difficult-to-maintain New Year’s resolutions, Jennie suggested five small tweaks for better health. In a fun, but factual fashion, she walked us through the importance of optimal gut health (probiotics play a key part, and she recommended trying to obtain them from your diet); fasting (it looks different for everyone, and can really just mean from dinner to breakfast); creating meals with superfoods (eat the rainbow!); hydrating first (before your day starts, and before meals); and being even moderately active for 15 minutes after dinner. Easy changes for better health? Sign us up!

We are very sorry, but due to a technical error, there is no video available for this presentation. Jennie is a favorite, frequent Journey guest, so we invite you to return for her next presentation. We also invite you to contact Jennie at jdunavan@hy-vee.com for a complimentary store tour, diabetes or kidney screening, or one of their paid services to help you meet your dietary goals.

Tune Up Your Estate Plan: Legacy Planning & Giving

Featuring Doug Koenig, CTFA, Vice President & Trust Services Advisor at UBT and Michael Henkenius, CTFA, Assistant Vice President & Trust Officer at UBT

Part of being ready for the year ahead is preparing for the future. Our Wealth Management experts discussed the importance of a comprehensive estate plan (don’t worry, they went over what that entails) as well as periodic estate plan tune-ups. Trust documents, power of attorney, titling and beneficiaries — it’s all there. Our esteemed presenters also talked about what may happen if all the components aren’t there or are not correct. Legacy planning and giving was also covered in great detail by an industry expert, and some of the ways you can gift an important organization are easier than you think. Missed it?
