If selected, The Asian Community & Cultural Center (ACCC) will use funds to provide critically needed support services to refugees and immigrants when they are needed most in our community. In the past year, the world has seen several humanitarian crises that have caused trauma, destruction, and mass movement of people on a global scale. In Lincoln, we have felt the direct impact of two of these crises with the recent influx of hundreds of Afghan and Ukrainian refugees. The Asian Center serves all immigrants and refugees, and we work to provide services for all community members in need of support. Both Afghan and Ukrainian refugees in our community are in need of additional support services as they transition to life in Lincoln, Nebraska. Our staff provide client-centered case management services to fit the unique needs of each family we serve. We are eager to serve these communities but we need additional support; we don't have the capacity to serve all of the 40-50 newly arrived Ukrainian families and the hundreds of Afghan refugees in Lincoln who struggle with challenges like language barrier challenges, health problems, transportation access, food access, and ongoing housing trouble. With your vote, we can help to meet this need and ensure that all members of the Lincoln community can enjoy the community that our city has to offer.
