The Monarch is a freestanding, six-bed facility providing quality compassionate and comfortable end-of-life care to terminally ill individuals. It is located at Pioneers Boulevard and 78th Street and serves individuals from the greater Lincoln area. The Monarch is owned and operated by Eastmont and offers a beautiful, home-like environment with space for family and friends to gather. Introduced in 2003, The Monarch continues to be one of only a few residential facilities in Nebraska offering hospice care. Because the facility has been utilized by many people over the years, it is beginning to show its wear and age. It is now time to renovate the space so that it may continue serving our community for many years to come.
The Monarch also provides end-of-life charity hospice care for those who are unable to afford this care in their final days of life. The Monarch has served over 1,700 people ranging from one month old to 100-plus and provided over $1,000,000 in charity care service to Lincoln area residents and others who have been unable to afford hospice care at the end of their lives. During the previous fiscal year (October 1, 2020, through September 31, 2021) The Monarch saw an increased length of stay among charity care hospice patients as The Monarch provided $158,760 in end-of-life charitable hospice care. The Monarch provides exceptional end-of-life hospice care for individuals whose personal financial resources have been exhausted by medical and living expenses.
Each quarter, Eastmont mails a satisfaction survey to the families of individuals who have been served by The Monarch. Respondents are asked their impression of The Monarch with regard to the nursing staff, communication and education, family comfort, welcome, staff patience, cleanliness, privacy respected, staff/hospice team followed plan of care, loved ones emotional/spiritual needs met, private quality time with loved one and if their loved one was comfortable and family felt supported. Recent survey results for the period reflect that 96% of respondents Strongly Agree in all areas. 98% of those surveyed would highly recommend The Monarch to others.
In the Nebraska Hospice & Palliative Care Association's July 2017 Nebraska End-Of-Life Survey Report, the majority (59%) of respondents would prefer hospice care to happen in their own home, followed by 24.7% in a hospice residence. It was also very important to Nebraskans (65%) that family and friends are able to visit them in a comfortable environment. The Monarch offers a welcome option for people of all ages, all abilities, and all circumstances to receive hospice care in a comfortable, home-like setting.
The Eastmont Foundation invites you to support this worthy cause to ensure that dying individuals and their families have access to a caring home-like environment and the specialized and personalized care offered by The Monarch. Your generous gift will inspire many in our community who have benefitted from hospice care at The Monarch or who support the concept of hospice for those in need.
