The Lincoln Children's Zoo created the Children at the Zoo (CATZ) program to bring firsthand interaction with living things to all families in our community. For over 20 years, the CATZ program has partnered the Zoo with elementary schools and human service organizations in our community to provide 1,000 free memberships and 20,000 free admission tickets every year to families facing financial hardship. As a recipient of the $100,000 gift, the Zoo would expand the CATZ program to provide train tickets with every CATZ admission ticket, and for each family member who receives a CATZ membership. The ZO&O railroad is an iconic part of Lincoln Children's Zoo and every child should have the opportunity to experience the magic of riding the train regardless of financial barriers.
