RJ Vernon, now owner of Vernco Roofing, started his business like so many others: from the ground up, and with very little.

Jan Sheridan, Vice President in our Treasury Management area, shares her story about RJ and his business first-hand:

“I needed a new roof a few years ago, and at the time, RJ worked for a different roofing company. He came to my home to give me an estimate. By the time I got organized and called him back, he had left that company and started his own roofing company. He was great to work with and it was a wonderful experience for me. I’ve referred him to several other people and spoke to him a few times about that, and then I asked him if he needed a good banker. I guess he did — he moved all his banking to Union Bank.

His business continues to grow, and we’ve opened several more accounts to accommodate other locations he is now serving: Omaha, Kansas, and Des Moines.

It’s become a relationship with the whole family.... Every year, RJ and his wife Amanda invite my husband and I to their company Christmas party. I truly feel like a part of their family every time I see them. He’s the kind of customer that gives me a hug when we see each other; just a super-nice guy with a great family!”
