In 2013, Taylor Graham came to UBT for a motorcycle loan, and was helped by Miranda at one of our branches. His father came in two weeks later wanting to pay off the loan, and told Miranda that Taylor had been in a serious motorcycle accident. He was 19 at the time. They didn’t think he would ever be able to walk again. Miranda cried many tears in her office with Paula and Scott, Taylor’s parents.
As Taylor was going through his recovery, Miranda helped Paula and Scott with a mortgage loan so they could build a handicapped-accessible home for Taylor. UBT’s Community Involvement Committee had some leftover funds toward the end of the year, so Miranda and a few UBT helpers arranged to brighten the Graham’s holidays with some gifts and treats. The relationship between the Grahams, Miranda, and UBT was strengthening.
Miranda spent many hours with the Grahams, crying, praying, and helping them navigate their financial situation through some really tough times. Miranda describes them as “two of the strongest parents I know — their faith throughout it all was like no other.”
Taylor worked extremely hard through his physical therapy, and since then has accomplished so many things they never thought he would be able to. He grew up over those years as a wonderful young man with a great head on his shoulders, so thankful to be alive.
Now 10 years later, Taylor is married to his wife Hanna — and he was able to walk down the aisle on their wedding day. Fun fact: They met at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital and now have three beautiful daughters!
Miranda still keeps in touch with the Grahams, as she lives only a few blocks away. That’s what being a part of a great neighborhood is all about. She says, “The relationship we have created and fostered over the years is like no other. I would be there for them, and they would be there for me in a heartbeat if anything was ever needed. I know through one of the most, if not the most, difficult times of their lives I was there not only for financial guidance, but as a friend and someone who cared deeply about Taylor and their family as a whole.”
