The Center for People in Need seeks community support to bulk-purchase disposable diapers and wipes to keep our busy Diaper Bank stocked and Lincoln's baby bottoms clean, dry, and healthy.
Food, love, and diapers are essential for all babies and toddlers. Yet, government safety-net programs do not cover the cost of diapers. Nationally, one in three families with children struggle with diaper need and Lincoln is no exception. In June 2022, the Center provided over 40,000 diapers, keeping 815 baby bottoms dry and healthy! That's a jump from 726 in May. Considering that in 2021 the monthly average was 583, it's clear that diaper need in Lincoln is high and growing.
The Diaper Bank provides low income families bundles of 50 diapers per child, once a month, as recommended by the National Diaper Bank Network. Though a typical child uses more than 50 diapers a month, the Diaper Bank covers the gap when parents need it most.
