“Cancer cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot conquer the spirit.”

Dan and Jodi Fagan have carved out a very nice life. They’ve moved out to the family farm, with plans to build their forever home on the land. Their sons Dustin and Dillon are grown, successful, and have amazing partners in McKenzie and Hannah, respectively, and the four of them are never too busy for family time. Best of all, their first grandchild, 2-year-old Ryder, brings them an unbelievable amount of joy. They could use some extra joy in their lives lately, as Dan has been battling cancer since the summer of 2018.
Praying for a positive outcome
Dan took his colon cancer diagnosis like a trooper, enduring several surgeries and many rounds of chemo. A preventive treatment plan followed, and seemed to be working until the onset of COVID-19 threw a wrench in things, halting treatment for a time. This last October, a CT scan revealed cancer in his esophagus. Dan is upbeat and determined, and the couple is praying for a positive outcome. They set small, manageable goals, and celebrate when they meet them, and they have the support of a loving family, which means everything. Vicki Baltes, Jodi’s sister, nominated this epic family for a Magic Moment in hopes it would help brighten their holiday season. UBT hopes so, too.
Time with family is everything
The Fagan family is a spirited and tight-knit bunch that enjoys a bit of action. Tractor pulls and drag races are favorite pastimes, but they’re hard workers, too, and there’s always stuff to be done on the farm. It doesn’t matter much what they’re doing; time with family is everything. Nowadays, little Ryder is often the family focal point. He’s growing and walking and needs much attention, and they need him, too — nothing brightens your day like an adorable little face.
UBT, our incredible community partners, and the Magic Moments team set out to make the season a bit brighter for the entire Fagan family, so we took them out to dinner at Misty’s Steakhouse! While enjoying a delicious repast, each family member received a special gift chosen just for them, and Dan and Jodi learned that they’ll soon be off to the races! We presented them with tickets to the NHRA Four-Wide nationals in Las Vegas, gas cards and gift cards to cover travel expenses, and goodies to sustain them on this wonderful road trek.
We’re wishing Dan, Jodi, and family a peaceful holiday; we’re hoping this Magic Moment brought some joy (and Dan, we’re in your corner!). Happy holidays, Fagan family!
