Anne, a long-time UBT customer, came in to her local branch and began to make some out-of-character requests. She told branch manager, Chase, about how she needed to send several thousand dollars to a company that had "accidentally deposited money into her account" and that she needed to transfer it back. The scammers were even listening in on the conversation, as they were on a phone call that she had switched to speaker mode. Chase immediately disconnected the call, reassured Anne that he and UBT would take care of her. He closed all her accounts and set up new ones, changed her automatic transfers, and reassured her that her money was now safe. Fortunately, she didn’t lose a dime.
About a week later, Chase drove to her house, picked up Anne and her PC, and went to a local shop who ran scans on her PC and “cleaned” any remaining info from the fraud attempt.
Because of all the help he provided, this customer now knows Chase and his family. They have built a personal friendship, and she has helped him celebrate life milestones like his wedding and new baby. She even refers to him as her “bank grandson," a nickname Chase is proud to wear. In Chase's own words, "I just think, if my grandma was in that situation, what would I want someone to do for her?"
“They have built a personal friendship, and she has helped him celebrate life milestones.”
